Post Session: Sensex ends 216 pts up, Nifty tops 11,340 led by financials and energy stocks

It is strong closing for Indian indices for the third consecutive day. Equity market ended firm on Wednesday powered by financials and energy stocks. Among the sectors, except energy and PSU bank all other indices are ended in red led by metal, pharma and infra. Among individual stocks, the share price of percent after company board in its meeting held on March 11 approved the valuation report and sale of the 66 Acres 13 Gunthas of vacant surplus land of the company subject to the approval of the shareholders, Govt of India and Govt of Telangana/TSIIC.

The 30-share index settled at 37752.17 up by 216.51 points or by 0.58 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 11341.7 up by 40.5 points or by 0.36 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 37797.29 and intraday low of 37478.87 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11352.3 and intraday low of 11276.6.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1636.25,+4.15%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 244.35,+3.67%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 2826.20,+2.63%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2226.10,+2.56%), State Bank of India (Rs. 292.65,+2.15%), among others. The top losers of the BSE Sensex were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 336.50,-4.08%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 172.05,-3.48%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 456.10,-2.98%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 513.60,-2.01%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 91.30,-1.93%), among others.

Among sectors, Bankex index was at 32355.59 up by 452.6 points or by 1.42%. IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1636.25,+4.15%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 244.35,+3.67%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 2226.10,+2.56%), State Bank of India (Rs. 292.65,+2.15%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 391.85,+0.94%),. On the flip side, Metal index was at 11144.18 down by -211.65 points or by -1.86%. Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 52.60,-4.54%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 52.55,-3.49%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 172.05,-3.48%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 167.20,-2.31%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 285.95,-2.11%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3075, shares advanced were 1174 while 1730 shares declined and 171 were unchanged.
