Sensex falls 261 pts; IT stocks drag

The domestic benchmark indices continue to trade in the negative territory in the late morning session. All the sectoral indices are trading on a mixed note with metal and energy trading in green and IT, pharma, auto, bank and infra trading in red. IT sector is trading around a per cent lower with Birlasoft down by 3.07 per cent and 63 Moons Technologies down by 4.11 per cent. The rupee is trading flat at 69.43 per dollar. On the corporate front, Blue Star introduces 34 new models of water purifiers with RO, UV, UV LED, RO+UV, and RO+UV+UF technologies including variants that enriches water with essential minerals.

At 11:24 hours, the SENSEX was trading at 39688.82 down by -261.64 points or by -0.65 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 11886.6 down by -79 points or by -0.66 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 39982.1 and intraday low of 39653.59 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11962.45 and intraday low of 11876.85.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 505.45,+2.57%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 172.45,+1.89%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 396.40,+1.69%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 170.85,+1.09%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1594.60,+0.46%), among others. On the other hand, the top losers of the BSE Sensex were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 135.25,-2.91%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1477.80,-1.97%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2942.65,-1.60%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 3496.65,-1.43%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 416.10,-1.27%), among others.

Among sectors, Oil&Gas index was at 15215.67 up by 37.19 points or by 0.25%. GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 311.25,+1.68%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 170.85,+1.09%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1332.20,+0.27%), Oil India Ltd. (Rs. 182.35,+0.14%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 162.50,+0.12%),. On the flip side, Realty index was at 2144.12 down by -22.58 points or by -1.04%. Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 116.05,-3.69%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 187.25,-2.22%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 262.95,-1.81%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 893.55,-0.86%), Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 18.95,-0.79%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2257 , shares advanced were 920 while 1204 shares declined and 133 were unchanged.
