Pre-Session: Sensex, Nifty likely to open in green

Indian benchmark indices are likely to open in green on Thursday after Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell signalled at a possible rate cut later this month.In an appearance before his Congressional overseers on Wednesday, Powell confirmed that the US economy is still under threat and that the central bank stands ready to “act as appropriate”.

The SGX Nifty also signalled a positive start for the indices.

Asian stocks rose on Thursday. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.2 per cent, while Japan's Nikkei added 0.15 per cent, and South Korea's KOSPI climbed 0.7 per cent.

In US, the Dow Jones rose 0.29 per cent to 26,860, the S&P 500 gained 0.45 per cent to 2,993 and the Nasdaq Composite added 0.75 per cent to 8,203.

The rupee declined by 7 paise to close at 68.58 against the US dollar on Wednesday, pressured by persistent foreign fund outflows and firming crude oil prices. On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark ended at 38557.04 down by 173.78 points or by 0.45 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11498.9 down by 57 points or by 0.49 %.

The FIIs on 10/07/2019 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 4142.76 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 3394.55 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 5019.59 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1518.51 Crore.

Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -876.83 Crore and Rs. 1876.04
