Sensex rises 142 pts; GTPL Hathway jumps 20%

The frontline benchmark indices have extended their gains and continue to trade in the positive terrain on Thursday. Among sectors, metal index is trading in green while IT is trading in red. Among others, the shares of GTPL Hathway jumped 20 per cent after the company reported stellar earnings performance for quarter ended June 2019. The consolidated profit during the quarter jumped 120 percent to Rs 29.45 crore and Revenue from operations grew by 50 percent to Rs 445.5 crore with subscription business showing a whopping 47 percent growth YoY in Q1.

At 10:21 hours, the SENSEX was trading at 38699.69 up by 142.65 points or by 0.37 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 11547 up by 48.1 points or by 0.42 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 38774.8 and intraday low of 38631.31 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11561.7 and intraday low of 11519.5.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 162.95,+1.84%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1510.00,+1.50%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 461.15,+1.44%), State Bank of India (Rs. 358.90,+1.33%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 153.40,+1.32%), among others. On the other hand, the top losers of the BSE Sensex were Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2674.45,-2.46%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 664.60,-1.48%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 91.95,-1.13%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 427.15,-0.88%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2096.00,-0.56%), among others.

Among sectors, HCS index was at 12875.5 up by 120.11 points or by 0.94%. Indoco Remedies Ltd. (Rs. 161.25,+6.26%), Alembic Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Rs. 542.00,+3.80%), Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (Rs. 619.45,+3.69%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 2640.40,+2.18%), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (Rs. 455.00,+2.13%),. On the flip side, CDS index was at 22926.62 down by -203.81 points or by -0.88%. VIP Industries Ltd. (Rs. 416.05,-2.09%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1082.45,-1.70%), Voltas Ltd. (Rs. 587.50,-0.57%), TTK Prestige Ltd. (Rs. 6408.15,-0.36%), Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 225.70,-0.24%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1827 , shares advanced were 1039 while 684 shares declined and 104 were unchanged.
