Sensex rises over 221 pts; Dilip Buildcon gains 11%

The domestic benchmark indices continue to trade more than half of a per cent higher amid strong global cues. Sectoral indices led by FMCG, metal, pharma are trading in green except IT which fell half a percent.

On the corporate front, the shares of Dilip Buildcon rallied nearly 11 per cent amid hope of debt reduction at consolidated level and talk of selling more HAM (hybrid annuity model) assets.

At 13:27 hours, the SENSEX was trading at 37203.73 up by 221.96 points or by 0.6 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 11018.85 up by 72.65 points or by 0.66 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 37215.54 and intraday low of 36784.47 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11024.7 and intraday low of 10889.8.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 1355.00,+2.00%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 61.55,+1.90%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1849.00,+1.67%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1463.75,+1.54%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 397.45,+1.52%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1085.55,-1.45%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 711.55,-1.39%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 831.00,-1.09%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 2823.60,-0.57%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2188.30,-0.43%), among others.

Among sectors, Bankex index was at 30968.8 up by 330.58 points or by 1.08%. RBL Bank Ltd. (Rs. 353.60,+5.00%), Federal Bank Ltd. (Rs. 85.70,+3.13%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 61.55,+1.90%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1463.75,+1.54%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 397.45,+1.52%),.

On the other hand, IT index was at 16145.05 down by -108.73 points or by -0.67%. Rolta India Ltd. (Rs. 6.10,-2.40%), Genesys International Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 78.20,-2.01%), Cerebra Integrated Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 24.05,-1.64%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1085.55,-1.45%), Hexaware Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 381.20,-1.41%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2502 , shares advanced were 1482 while 847 shares declined and 173 were unchanged.
