Mid Session- Indices trade positive; Auto stocks shine

The frontline benchmark indices have extended their gains and are trading around half of a per cent higher in the afternoon session on Wednesday. Sectoral indices except IT and FMCG are trading in the green with Realty index up 2.9 per cent and PSU Bank, Metal, Auto indexes are all up nearly 2 per cent.

On the currency front, the rupee has recovered from the intraday low and trading marginally higher at 71.67 per dollar.

In the individual stocks, the shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) rose over 3 per cent after the company commissioned a 1320 MW IB Thermal Power Station located in Jharsuguda district of Odisha.

On the flip side, the shares of Sanofi India slipped more than 2 per cent after the company approved slump sale and transfer of its manufacturing facility at Ankleshwar, Gujarat to Zentiva for a consideration of Rs 2,617 million.

At 12:25 hours, the SENSEX was trading at 37334.75 up by 189.3 points or by 0.51 per cent and then NSE Nifty was at 11038.25 up by 35.2 points or by 0.32 per cent. The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 37343.46 and intraday low of 37193.57 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11054.8 and intraday low of 11011.65.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex were YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 71.80,+13.79%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 130.35,+6.93%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 59.40,+6.64%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1371.50,+2.81%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 145.00,+2.73%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex were HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1061.05,-2.13%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 704.20,-1.21%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 819.30,-1.19%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2165.25,-0.83%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 244.30,-0.49%), among others.

Among sectors, Auto index was at 16502.41 up by 402.1 points or by 2.5%. Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 130.35,+6.93%), Motherson Sumi Systems Ltd. (Rs. 104.10,+4.89%), TVS Motor Company Ltd. (Rs. 401.80,+3.38%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 6492.60,+2.51%), MRF Ltd. (Rs. 60200.00,+2.33%),.

On the other hand, IT index was at 15955.7 down by -166 points or by -1.03%. Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd. (Rs. 1637.30,-2.30%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1061.05,-2.13%), Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 250.35,-2.05%), NIIT Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1422.15,-1.59%), Shivalik Bimetal Controls Ltd. (Rs. 62.45,-1.26%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2449 , shares advanced were 1662 while 655 shares declined and 132 were unchanged.
