Nifty below 12,000, Sensex down over 50 points; FMCG under pressure

Indian equities continue trading in negative terrain in early morning deals on Friday, dragged down by loses in index heavyweights including Tata Steel, Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel and Hindustan Unilever Ltd among others.

Among Individual shares, shares of DLF surged 6 per cent to Rs 204 on the BSE on Friday after the company reported a strong set of numbers for the quarter ended September 2019 (Q2FY20). Additionally, stock of the real estate developer was also included in the MSCI Global Standard Index with effect from November 26, 2019.

Also, shares of Indraprastha Gas touched the 52-week high of Rs 422.90, rising nearly 8 percent intraday on November 8 after company had posted robust numbers in the quarter ended in September. The company's Q2 standalone net profit rose 74.5 percent at Rs 381 crore versus Rs 218.4 crore in the quarter ended in June.

At 10:17 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 40601.42, down by -52.32 points or by -0.13 per cent, and the NSE Nifty was at 11989.6, down by -22.45 points or by -0.19 per cent.

The BSE Sensex touched intraday high of 40630.56 and intraday low of 40503.67 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11996.55 and intraday low of 11966.5.

ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 489.20,+2.19%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1410.35,+2.13%), YES Bank Ltd. (Rs. 67.85,+2.03%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 591.20,+1.86%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 2682.90,+0.88%), among others were the top gainers on the BSE.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 428.55,-2.70%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2103.75,-1.59%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 398.40,-1.18%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 1805.25,-1.17%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 367.30,-1.17%), among others.

Among sectors, Realty index was at 2162.75 up by 41.71 points or by 1.97%. DLF Ltd. (Rs. 204.90,+6.47%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 73.55,+5.00%), Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 1.91,+4.95%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 448.00,+1.89%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 726.90,+1.34%),.

Whereas, FMCG index was at 12214.82 down by -101.49 points or by -0.82%. Ruchi Soya Industries Ltd. (Rs. 3.46,-4.95%), JK Agri Genetics Ltd. (Rs. 451.10,-4.02%), Globus Spirits Ltd. (Rs. 147.00,-2.33%), Som Distilleries & Breweries Ltd. (Rs. 117.75,-2.00%), Heritage Foods Ltd. (Rs. 333.35,-1.84%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1896 , shares advanced were 993 while 787 shares declined and 116 were unchanged.
