Sensex marginally up amid positive global cues

Indian benchmarks pared most of the early gains but continued to trade in green during the morning trade despite headwinds in form of weak GDP numbers, sliding rupee and rising crude prices.

On the global front, Asian markets rallied on Monday following report indicating strong Chinese factory activity that strengthened investors sentiment. Bourses in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo surged on Monday after a report showed jump in Chinese factory activity.

At 10:35 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 40822.19 up by 28.38 points or by 0.07 % and then NSE Nifty was at 12061.25 up by 5.2 points or by 0.04 %. Sensex touched intraday high of 41093.99 and intraday low of 40806.38 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 12137.15 and intraday low of 12056.6

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 474.30,+7.23%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1593.50,+2.75%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2046.00,+0.49%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1576.00,+0.43%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1619.65,+0.33%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 3932.50,-3.46%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 740.85,-2.71%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 442.65,-1.59%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 190.75,-1.34%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2025.20,-1.34%), among others.

Among the sectors, Oil&Gas index was at 15211.55 up by 55.94 points or by 0.37%. Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1593.50,+2.75%), Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 278.65,+2.67%), GAIL (India) Ltd. (Rs. 126.05,+0.08%),.

Realty index was at 2139.28 down by -27.25 points or by -1.26%. Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 3.52,-4.86%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 65.60,-3.53%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 215.70,-1.82%), Sunteck Realty Ltd. (Rs. 386.80,-1.69%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 511.25,-1.18%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2095 , shares advanced were 885 while 1056 shares declined and 154 were unchanged.
