Sensex gains over 1,100 pts as FM announces slew of measures

Benchmark indices extended the gains and trading near the day's high level after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the economic package will be announced sooner. Work is going on and we are very close to economic package. Many statutory and regulatory compliance related issues need to be addressed. Economic package will be announced sooner rather than later, FM said.

At 14:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 27113.62 up by 1132.38 points or by 4.36 % and then NSE Nifty was at 7933.85 up by 323.6 points or by 4.25 %. Sensex touched intraday high of 27462.87 and intraday low of 25638.9 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 8036.95 and intraday low of 7511.1

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 587.85,+11.61%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2066.35,+10.35%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 965.70,+9.26%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 2455.00,+8.41%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 4562.85,+8.31%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 310.20,-7.83%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 279.35,-4.89%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 148.45,-2.85%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 151.00,-2.20%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 713.55,-1.40%), among others.

Among the sectors, TECk index was at 6035.38 up by 389.73 points or by 6.9%. MindTree Ltd. (Rs. 838.70,+14.51%), PVR Ltd. (Rs. 1374.05,+13.88%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 587.85,+11.61%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 448.50,+7.36%), Larsen & Toubro Infotech Ltd. (Rs. 1388.00,+7.33%),.

Realty index was at 1322.8 down by -25.45 points or by -1.89%. Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. (Rs. 196.65,-5.95%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 143.00,-5.39%), Indiabulls Real Estate Ltd. (Rs. 40.75,-4.90%), Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 1.36,-4.90%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 548.80,-4.79%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2557 , shares advanced were 1033 while 1356 shares declined and 168 were unchanged.
