Nifty above 7,900, Sensex up 96 pts; RIL gains 8%

The Indian markets gained over 1 per cent in Wednesday's early trade, in line with their global peers. RIL, Cipla, Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Hindalco, Gail and Wipro are among major gainers, while losers are IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, L&T and Maruti Suzuki in the initial trade.

The Indian currency market will remain shut today on account of Gudhipadwa.

At 9:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 26770.91 up by 96.88 points or by 0.36 % and then NSE Nifty was at 7931.25 up by 130.2 points or by 1.67 %. Sensex touched intraday high of 27299.44 and intraday low of 26458.52 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 7952.8 and intraday low of 7732.1

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1011.80,+7.28%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 14137.40,+4.29%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 521.00,+3.37%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 278.00,+2.30%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2073.60,+2.21%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 297.00,-4.91%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 290.70,-4.11%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 680.40,-3.94%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 1567.45,-3.65%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 259.60,-3.58%), among others.

Among the sectors, Realty index was at 1332.62 up by 11.48 points or by 0.87%. Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 608.45,+6.70%), Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd. (Rs. 205.50,+4.77%), Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. (Rs. 172.80,+3.04%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 121.50,+0.66%),.

CGS index was at 9677.71 down by -236.43 points or by -2.38%. Sadbhav Engineering Ltd. (Rs. 32.65,-4.95%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 680.40,-3.94%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 19.40,-3.24%), NBCC (India) Ltd. (Rs. 15.70,-2.18%), Kalpataru Power Transmissions Ltd. (Rs. 179.35,-2.15%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 1076 , shares advanced were 445 while 573 shares declined and 58 were unchanged.
